Rendering of the Month: Basal Grid
This month I’ve renovated the simplistic pattern, W50885-Basal Grid. The clean, retro look of this original is so refreshing to me, and I thought it would be interesting to organize the rectangular overlap in a few different ways. Take a look!
I fell more in love with this design as I continued to develop the deconstructed finished product. How pretty is this muted palette?! The duo of warm washed tan and soft grey, atop a canvas inspired grid field make this the perfect staple piece for any room in a residential space. Any accent color would pair nicely with this one.
Of course, there had to be at least one colorful piece this month! Instead of overlapping the rectangles, I offset a smaller scaled duplicate within the shape itself, and created an interesting color cascade to hug the edges of the rug. The saturated jewel toned colors interact in a playful, but sophisticated way.
Considering a textural contrast to the set, this last design speaks to a more tailored audience. I love the Tiffany blue with the contemporary grey paired together, and the alternate offset of the pattern repeat really creates a unique but timeless effect.
