Carpets Shaped By Vision, Perfected By Craft
Amhad Freeman and Scott Group Studio translate water’s fluidity into patterns, textures, and tones. Connected by the vast beauty of Lake Michigan between Grand Rapids and Chicago, Amhad drew inspiration from the ever-shifting currents and reflective depths of water. This rug collection captures the calming flow and dynamic energy of rivers, lakes, and oceans, bringing nature’s beauty into the home.
Liquid Boundary
Inspired by the meeting of water and land on Iceland’s volcanic shores, Alti reflects the dynamic interplay of black sand beaches and foaming waves. Dark, grounding cut pile echos the volcanic earth, while flowing lines captures the movement of water with cut pile silk, creating a design that is both dramatic and elegant.

Rippling Waters
Alda is inspired by the power and beauty of waves, featuring bold, sweeping curves in three-dimensional form. The design emphasizes the dramatic rise and fall of each wave through variations in pile height and elegant combinations of striaed moody blue colors, evoking a sense of movement and dynamic energy.

Shallow Waters
Valon, rendered in soft sandy hues, draws inspiration from shallow, gently lapping waves. The delicate ripple effects across the water’s surface are echoed in the pattern’s subtle layering of textures, flowing to the edge where surf meets sand. A border element enhances this effect with an organic line of cream cut pile, accented with silk for a refined, luminous finish.
What I really wanted to capture was the waves, the way they flow. I love the way they hit shoreline and create that ripple effect.

Process
Bringing this collection to life with Amhad Freeman was a truly collaborative process. It began with his inspiration—drawn from the movement, fluidity, peacefulness, and palette of water. With this vision in mind, our design team began developing samples and concepts that reflected Amhad’s ideas. Together, we reviewed, refined, and shaped the direction for three unique rug designs through a series of collaborative sessions. Once finalized, the rugs were brought to life through both hand-tufting and robotic tufting, then carefully finished and photographed. The result is a collection that both Amhad and our team are proud of—and we’re thrilled to finally share it with the world.
