A dialogue in craft, a meeting of two disciplines.
This collection is grounded in a shared respect for craft and a desire to explore what happens when two distinct disciplines converge. Created in collaboration between Scott Group Studio and furniture designer Mary Ratcliffe, this series of hand-tufted carpets reflects a thoughtful exchange of perspectives—where material, process, and storytelling are equally considered.

Memory Distilled
Rooted in memory, the designs draw from the landscape of Mary’s family farm, capturing fleeting moments in time—from wild, overgrown fields to freshly cut terrain and the quiet glow of the night sky. What was once an expansive memory is distilled into an intimate expression within each piece, anchored in an earthy palette of terracotta, warm beige, and soft neutrals.

There is a beautiful cross pollination happening here; we’re bridging different countries, different craft histories and creating something that feels singular. The collaboration is a celebration of so much, the human experience, the ‘made’ not ‘manufactured’ and the natural world itself.
— Mary Ratcliffe

In my studio, craftsmanship is the backbone of every aesthetic choice. I view the design process as a trilogue between the raw concept, the visual intent, and the physical reality of the build…By letting the ‘why’ inform the ‘how’, we ensure the end result is as honest as it is elegant.”
— MARY RATCLIFFE

Rista
Layered Terrain
In this understated design, a directional hatched pattern meets soft, tonal gradation to create striking visual depth. Subtle shifts in pile height and shearing techniques create a layered shading effect, bringing movement to an otherwise grounded composition. Hand-tufted in all-natural wool, the piece beautifully balances structure with softness.

Persei Full Rug
Persei
Movement in Light & Form
Like light drifting across an open sky, the pattern of Persei reveals itself gradually. Variations in pile height create gentle undulations underfoot, while strands of silk glimmer softly within the wool field—appearing and disappearing as the viewing angle changes. There’s a quiet rhythm to the piece, where texture and sheen work together to evoke a sense of depth, movement, and stillness all at once.

Joro II
A Study in Contour & Depth
Contours emerge and recede like something slowly shaped over time. This pattern moves with a natural rhythm—fluid, irregular, and deeply dimensional. Through carved variations in pile height, the surface takes on a sculptural quality, where light settles into low points and glides across raised forms. There’s a sense of quiet energy within the piece, where depth and movement feel both organic and intentional.

Authentic craftsmanship is radical transparency. It’s about being able to trace the genesis of a piece back to the hands that made it. To me, a piece has more soul when you know the stories of the people behind the loom or the workbench.
— Mary Ratcliffe

Through authentic craft, this collection brings a sense of “soul” back into the spaces we inhabit. By translating Mary Ratcliffe’s structural sensibilities into Scott Group Studio’s rich, tactile fibers, the collaboration treats the floor as a canvas for living art. It is an exquisite reminder that the most meaningful design is shaped by human hands, carrying a narrative that deepens over a lifetime.
