What is your role at Scott Group Studio?
I am on the Design Team and work primarily on handmade products for both A&D and Aviation.

Describe your career path and how you landed at SGS.
I studied Industrial Design at Kendall College of Art and Design. During school, I interned at Steelcase designing office furniture, and after graduating, I designed footwear for Hush Puppies for six years. Scott Group Studio was the perfect next step in my career, granting me the ability to combine my passions and learn a new industry.
I have always been interested in the connections we have with everyday products and enjoy considering ways to improve those experiences.
I love working with color, textures, and problem-solving the technical aspects of how products are made.
What does a day in your job look like?
Something I enjoy about my role is that no two days are the same, and because our projects are custom, there is always something new to solve. Some days I am searching for the perfect yarn color for a sample or creating new designs for clients. Others, I’m working on the more technical aspects of design. My days are often a combination of all three!

What is your favorite yarn color and fiber to work with?
I enjoy working on projects that focus on neutrals with an accent color. When the colors have a grounding anchor point with the carpet, it can really pull a space together and add a sense of cohesion. Worsted wool is one of my favorite fibers to add as an accent because it has a subtle and soft luminous quality to it that adds depth and beauty.

One of my favorite places to find inspiration is from nature itself.

Tell us about any other hobbies or interests you have.
A favorite hobby of mine is crocheting. Giving my hands something to do helps my mind relax, and it’s fun trying out new stitches, and making things for my home or to wear. I am extremely fortunate to be able to use some of the left over yarn from SGS to use for my projects as well.

Where do you get inspiration from?
I love exploring museums and shows to experience new things and gain inspiration. I also frequent sites like Fiber Art Now, Colossal, Hi-Fructose Magazine, and top fashion houses to find new artists and designers to follow. One of my favorite places to find inspiration is from nature itself.
