Inspired by elements that shape the earth over time, these carpets blend rich texture and fluid lines with an airy, understated palette. The result is a softly expressive series of rugs that bring quiet clarity and grounded beauty to any space.

Softly layered, lacey contours and nuanced tonal variation move across the surface, evoking the quiet beauty of terrain shaped over time. The composition draws on the idea of a border, framing a central field whose scale and proportions can be adapted, allowing the design to respond thoughtfully to the geometry of the space and surrounding furniture.

Romas Install
Romas | A Mary Ratcliffe Design
Defined by expressive, gestural forms, Romas explores sculptural drama through pile height differential and texture. Winding contours of cut pile mohair frame the composition, while layered pathways of silk, nettle and wool bring subtle interest to the cut field. Himalayan Giant Nettle also know as Allo, is a plant that grows in the high altitudes of Nepal and India. This durable fiber is extracted from the inner bark of the plant and spun into yarns that give a rich earthy texture.
Minutia
Inspired by the intricate patterns found in nature, Minutia layers finely articulated markings into a richly textured composition combining wool and sateen. The result is a dynamic surface that feels both organic and elevated.

Rista is a contemporary exploration of woven
structure. Broad, interlacing bands create a bold, sculptural surface, each intersection carefully articulated through a combination of specialized construction and precision shearing. The result is a dimensional composition that blurs the line between textile and object. At once graphic and richly material, Rista stands apart as a strikingly original design that drew significant attention for its unexpected depth and craftsmanship at ICFF.

Undulating forms flow across an organically shaped rug, evoking the rhythms of topographic landscapes and shifting terrain. The terraced multi-level tufting uses a wavy gestural pattern, and includes accents of silk to create a composition with a distinctly sculptural presence.

Persei | A Mary Ratcliffe Design
Radiating circular motifs, inspired by the night sky over Mary’s farm in Ontario, create a dynamic sense of energy across the surface. Richly textured cut-silk tufts are layered with low-level wool felt yarn, introducing multidimensional detail and a subtle shadowing effect that echoes the velocity of movement to the design.

An abstract composition of fluid, meandering lines creates a restrained composition balancing movement with openness. A nuanced blend of dyed wool and undyed natural yarn lends an earthy richness to the field texture, while the juxtaposition of high silk and wool cut pile adds depth and subtle contrast.
